Due to the merger of the Society of Uroradiology and the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists, all membership applications for consideration must be received via e-mail no later than December 31, 2011. Please note that only complete applications will be processed; and therefore, we encourage you to review the information below that outlines the requirements and documents needed for membership within the Society. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and is being requested as we prepare for the inception of the Society of Abdominal Radiology. Details regarding membership applications for the SAR will be communicated after the first quarter of 2012. The Society of Uroradiology was incorporated in 1974. Its primary purpose is to promote interest in the imaging of the genitourinary tract with emphasis upon the integration of standard radiography, sonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, interventional procedures and nuclear medicine, as well as application of emerging technologies to the field. In 1995, the SUR changed its by-laws and mission statement, opening its membership to all physicians and scientists with an interest in the practice, teaching and research of genitourinary imaging. The SUR meets annually, holds a scientific session and sponsors an educational course. An applicant for active membership shall:
The Active membership shall include physicians practicing radiology, ultrasonography, nuclear medicine, urology, nephrology, pathology and other individuals whose qualifications are deemed acceptable to the Membership Committee. Active members are assessed annual dues, hold the right to vote and may serve on, but not chair, standing committees. Active members may chair and serve on ad hoc committees at the pleasure of the president. Active members are eligible for election to the position of Director-at-Large.
